The Pikeville-Pike County-Elkhorn City Joint Planning Commission is a nine member board made up of three members from each of the three political entities involved. Each member is elected to a four year term, and meetings are conducted on the second Tuesday of even months at 5:00 pm. Meetings are currently held in the Commission Meeting Room on the 2nd floor of City Hall at 243 Main Street, Pikeville, Kentucky.
Any subdividing or combining of real property lots, subdivision plans, or zoning changes within the City of Pikeville must be approved by the Joint Planning Commission. They also must approve the locations of any new cell towers planned to be located within Pike County.
The Joint Planning Commission is advised on compliance with regulations, ordinances, and standards by a three person Technical Advisory Committee.
