Environmental Codes Enforcement

The Environmental Department is responsible for handling city environmental code violations. Click here for the summary of Chapter 92 ordinance.

You are now able to file  code complaints online and coming soon you will be able to register for our customer portal link that will allow you to  check on the status of existing cases with the City of Pikeville’s E-Code Enforcement services. Using the Code Complaint Inquiry link you can create an online account to view, pay and monitor the status of any actions by property location.

Abatement of code violations, in some cases, may take several days or even weeks. The City must first notify the property owner of the violation at location and by postal mail by certified letter. In most cases, the property owner (or tenant) has 7  days to resolve any violations.

If the violation remains after 7 additional days, the city issues the second notice of violation and issues a fine.  For violations, citations and fines continue to be issued until the problem is cured.

Only in extreme cases will the city go in and clear the property of the violation if it presents a public health and safety hazard. See the Code Enforcement Ordinances at our ordinance website.
