Streetscape work results in changes to the traffic pattern, going into effect this week

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (April 12, 2022)- The City of Pikeville announced today that the traffic changes in
conjunction with the Second Street Project will go into effect along Grace Avenue and Caroline
Avenue this Saturday morning. With the new, one-way traffic patterns, the area will now be safer
for both drivers and pedestrians.

“By implementing new street changes to Grace Avenue and Caroline Avenue, this area will be
much safer to navigate for our citizens and visitors,” said Philip Elswick, City Manager for the City
of Pikeville. “With the new street changes, the city will also be able to more efficiently close these
main streets for local events, like our creative arts district events. We thank our community for their
cooperation during this transition.”

Throughout the downtown area, drivers and pedestrians will see new signage on Grace Avenue,

Caroline Avenue, Main Street, and Second Street, which will indicate the new traffic patterns on
Grace Avenue and Carolina Avenue.

The traffic flow updates are scheduled to take effect on Saturday, April 16th at 10am.
