(LEX 18) — Kentucky public schools will be closed to in-person learning for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. The announcement made Monday (April 20) after Governor Andy Behsear held a conference call with all school superintendents.

Non-tradition instruction, or NTI will continue for the remainder of the school year. It’s reported that Governor Beshear instructed superintendents to post about the closure on social media.

Earlier this month, Governor Andy Beshear recommended that schools needed to be closed until May 1.

Monday’s
announcement comes after Ohio’s governor, Mike DeWine announced that
their state’s schools would be closed for the rest of the academic year.

Kentucky and Ohio join a growing number of states canceling in-person learning for the rest of the school year.
